Aprende inglés cantando 'River' de Eminem y Ed Sheeran

Hello everybody! Es viernes y como siempre, vamos a aprender inglés. Lo haremos de una forma diferente y mucho más entretenida, a través de la música. Es por eso que hoy inauguramos una nueva sección en nuestro blog de Number 16 School: ‘Aprende inglés con canciones’. ¿Qué os parece?

Analizaremos los hits de moda para extraer vocabulario, mejorar nuestra comprensión auditiva y conocer las particularidades del inglés en las canciones, como las acotaciones y contracciones, recursos que se emplean para agilizar el ritmo de la canción y conseguir efectividad sonora.

Y para los nostálgicos, keep calm, también aprenderemos inglés con canciones clásicas, que han marcado la historia de la música. ¡Admitimos sugerencias!

Y para inaugurar esta sección de ‘Aprende inglés con canciones’ hemos escogido uno de los éxitos de este año: ‘River’ de Eminem y Ed Sheeran. ¿A que no te hubieras imaginado hace un tiempo a ambos artistas juntos? ¡Nosotros tampoco! ¡Y mirad si ha triunfado la canción!

Lo cierto es que Ed Sheeran nunca falta en la playlist de Number 16, ¡seguro que lo has oído sonar en nuestras academias al salir o entrar de clase! ;)

Antes de sumergirnos en la letra de la canción, deciros que la hemos escogido porque además de ser un éxito, existe un mix de acentos como ocurre en nuestro equipo de profesores: el acento americano por parte de Eminem y el acento británico de Ed Sheeran. ¡A ver si lo notáis!

Además hay muchas palabras que os resultarán desconocidas si no tenéis un nivel muy avanzado de inglés que podéis mejorar con nuestro método. Nosotros os las marcamos, pero intentad localizarlas cuando escuchéis la canción y quedaros con su pronunciación ;)

• "Been a lover, been a cheat": En el inglés hablado es muy común hacer economía de palabras, es decir, acortar frases, sobre todo, cuando se habla en un contexto informal.
• "If all it's gonna cause is pain": ‘Gonna’, ‘Gotta’ y ‘Wanna’ son las contracciones más frecuentes y se emplean sobre todo en inglés americano. Sustituyen a ‘Going to’, ‘Have go to’ y ‘Want to’, respectivamente.
• "She's on his back like a jetpack": Aquí encontramos una expresión interesante "be on someone´s back" que significa criticar a alguien, hablar de alguien a las espaldas. ¿La conocías?
• "She's kept track of all his internet chats": En esta frase hay un phrasal verb interesante ‘to keep track’ que significa vigilar lo que alguien hace en redes sociales, like a ‘stalker’. Incluso en castellano también se ha popularizado la expresión ‘stalkear a alguien’.
