Hey students!✌ There is there are lo utilizamos de forma habitual en inglés y en muchas ocasiones se os complica a los estudiantes del inglés.
En este post estudiaremos el significado de there is there are, las diferencias entre ellos y algunos ejemplos.
There is y there are los utilizamos para expresar la existencia de algo.
¿Cuándo utilizamos there is?
Utilizamos there is cuando el complemento de la oración (the object) está en singular.
FRASES AFIRMATIVAS:
“There is a free chair over there if you want.”
“There is a slice of pizza for you in the kitchen.”
FRASES NEGATIVAS:
“There isn’t a tool for me to fix it.”
“There isn’t a builder available on Sunday.”
*Isn’t es la contracción de is not, es decir, es la forma negativa de there is.
FRASES INTERROGATIVAS:
“Is there a car parked in the garage?”
“Is there a meal already cooked for later today?”
*IMPORTANTE: Como habéis visto en los ejemplos, a diferencia de las frases afirmativas y negativas, las frases interrogativas cambian la estructura.

PAST TENSE
“There was a house there before”
“There wasn’t a queue when I left.”
“Was there a good view from the top?”
FUTURE TENSE
“There will be a storm later today”
“There won’t be a worker there at 6 am.

¿Cuándo utilizamos there are?
Utilizamos there are cuando el complemento de la oración está en plural.
FRASES AFIRMATIVAS
“There are lots of people outside.”
“There are so many insects out in the garden.”
FRASES NEGATIVAS
“There aren’t any bars open on Mondays.”
“There aren’t too many shops to choose from.”
FRASES INTERROGATIVAS
“Are there any questions before we start?”
“Are there any plates top ut the food on?”
PAST TENSE
“There were so many people at the concert.
“There weren’t any animals in the park.”
“Were there any funny people in class?
FUTURE TENSE
“There will be lots of children at the cinema”
“There won’t be lots of people at 8 am.”
